My class is very smart! I'm taking a class for gifted and talented students, but at this point I'm having to come up with things on my own to challenge my kids.
To start with...my small group reading time was not very effective. The books that I am supposed to use are very easy for my groups. So, I'm creating reading circles! Today I introduced 4 different books and let the kids write down their top 3 picks. Then, I created groups based on their choices.
The kids will be able to read independently, then we'll come together to talk about the book and I'll get to address the higher-level comprehension skills. The kids were really excited about it...and I was too! I just hope it works. I'll keep you updated!
