Today I did something for the first time. I called DSS. I have made referrals before, but the guidance counselor usually takes care of it. But in summer school, you are on your own.
One of my students came in with marks and bruises.
I want to save him. I just want to take him home.
That's one of the hardest parts about being a teacher. Not being able to take control. You love them and teach them, but ultimately they are not yours.
I'm thankful for this calling. Sometimes I just wish I could do more.
